Sailing with Bavaria 42

I've been sailing with Bavaria 42 last Year and want to share with you my experience.
This is a very good-looking boat in a benign and family friendly way. You will not confuse this boat with the latest racing machine. Given the bulk, the lines are nicely sculpted and the molded detailing is superb. I like the way the aluminum-framed windshield terminates into the coaming recess. This is what I call "eye candy."

We did pull off several tight loops to dodge passing boats, and for its size, the Bavaria 42 has excellent agility. The Selden mast has swept-back spreaders that are angled to 18 degrees, which eliminates running backstays. In lighter winds, the skipper can jibe the mainsail alone while the crew takes care of the jib. The primary and coachroof winches are self-tailing, and the former are within easy reach of the helm for those times when you're really short-handed.
Well-built, clean and easy to sail, the Bavaria 42 has to rank high on the must-see list for those who want a comfortable cruiser for two couples or a family. It will take you where you want to go in style.
